Muddy May Bank Holiday In KOA Great Falls

This was a fairly good long weekend away bu it started off as a disaster.  We crossed the border as normal at Sweetgrass..... but after we passed Shelby things started to go bad.  Our engine started making a nasty clattering noise and eventually died.  This left us stranded at the side of the road, miles from anywhere at eight o'clock in the evening.

I took a look under the hood and it did not look good, the negative lead off the battery was practically melted through and the battery appeared to be dead.  Luckily we have a fantastic recovery service called Coach-Net so i called them and the said that they would have a recovery vehicle out to us in an hour.

In the meantime I decided to make a coffee in the trailer, as I was washing my hands i noticed a large black spot in my eyeball, about the size of a tea leaf.  I tried to wash it out and it just went under the eyelid and stuck there, i was in absolute agony.  That whole hour i spent trying to wash my eye out but to no avail, it was stuck and it was very sore.

When the tow truck arrived he put the truck on the back of the wrecker and towed the trailer.  The service we recieved was excellent, he took us to our campsite (KOA in Great Falls) and even positioned it on the site for us.... he returned the following day to collect the Nissan and take it to a dealership to see what was wrong with it.

Once the truck was gone we had to go down to the hospital because I was in so much pain i could hardly balance.  We managed to get a taxi from the campsite and he took us straight to the emergency room.  The doctor told me he was going to freeze the eyeball, I was a bit sceptical but as soon as the solution went in, all the pain just disapeared, it was absolute bliss.  Five seconds later my eye was cleaned out and we were good to go.  $230 but worth every cent, I'm not really bothered about the payment anyway because my company provides excellent international medical cover as a benefit.

We had a pretty good weekend just chilling out in the trailer but obviously we were worried about the truck, we were even more worried when they told us it needed a new engine.  There was no way we were going to pay a Dealership to fix the truck, we could get it done much cheaper in Canada.

I phoned Luke (my son) and he jumped in his car and came down to collect us..... at least this would get us back home as we still had to go to work on Tuesday.

Tuesday night we were headed back down to Great Falls in a rented truck and we towed Zingy back home to safety.  Wednesday we returned to Gt Falls with a car hauler on the back of the rental truck and recovered the Titan which we took into a friends dealership hoping that he would be able to help us (which he did)

This was an expensive weekend but still great fun !

Sorry no pics on this one, they got lost when the computer crashed.
